Heart valve disease

The valve that leads blood to your heart is a flap that opens and closes with each heartbeat. This is what makes your lub-DUB sound. Three different problems may affect your heart valve:

Closure: Since there is no opening in the valve, blood can not flow.
Reflux: The valve retracts blood instead of advancing.
Stenosis: The flap gets thicker, harder, it becomes together, and blood becomes less.
